Cirencester food & drink photographer
based on your doorstep
I’m Lou Carruthers, based in South Cerney – just minutes from Cirencester. That closeness makes the practical side of shoots easier (planning, timings, quick check-ins), but it’s also about familiarity. I know the light here, the pace of hospitality in a market town like this, and the details that make places in this corner of the Cotswolds feel the way they do.
I work with restaurants, hotels, gastropubs and drinks brands in and around Cirencester to create imagery that does more than look beautiful – it helps the right people feel what you’ve built, and take the next step to book, visit or enquire.
What
Cirencester Clients
typically need
Cirencester has a particular character – it’s a proper market town with depth, craft, and a hospitality scene that’s quietly ambitious. Country house hotels on the edges of town, independent restaurants where the menu shifts with the seasons, and producers and craft brands that are creating things worth tasting – and worth talking about.
What I often see is this: the experience is stronger than the current image library can show. Not because anyone’s doing anything ‘wrong’. It’s simply what happens when you’re focused on running a brilliant business – service comes first, the work is hands-on, and photography gets squeezed into whatever time is left. A phone camera here, a quick shoot there… and the visuals end up feeling fine, but not felt.
And in hospitality – feeling is everything! The warmth of a room. The reassurance of quality. The small details that make someone think: yes, that’s the place.
featured project
The Orangery at Siddington Park, Cirencester
The Orangery is the dining heart of Siddington Park – a luxury retirement village, just outside Cirencester. It’s a venue with a genuinely complex brief: imagery that needs to speak to prospective residents evaluating quality of life, current residents who eat there daily and external guests looking for a special occasion venue – all at once.
Over three seasonal shoots, we built a strategic content library rooted in taste, light and story – sophisticated enough to reassure, warm enough to invite and versatile enough to fuel a full year of marketing across every platform.
Lou’s work speaks for itself!
My first reaction was honestly ‘wow!’ The colours, lighting and detail made every dish stand out, and the images were even better than I expected. The whole experience was detailed, friendly and relaxed – Lou genuinely cares about getting everything just right. The mood board and plan were incredibly clear, and the results have given us a strong visual presence online. I couldn’t recommend her more.

what it’s like to
work together – practically
before the shoot
We start with a proper conversation -about your brand, your audience, your current imagery and what’s missing. I’ll put together a shot list and a simple brief so there are no surprises on the day and no gaps in the gallery afterwards.
On the day
I work cleanly and quietly in your space. I understand kitchens, I understand service, and I know how to get what we need without disrupting your team or your guests. Most Cirencester shoots are either a half-day (3-4 hours, one clear focus) or a full day (6-8 hours, a complete image library). I’ll always recommend what makes sense for your goals.
After the shoot
Edited images delivered within 10–14 working days via a private online gallery. A Standard Web + Social + PR + Owned Print licence (UK, 24 months) is included. Shot lists and scene-by-scene notes so you know exactly what you have and how to use it.
